In this class, I will share my experience with making jewelry with real flowers! It is a great way to preserve the beauty of nature by making one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. I will give step-by-step instructions on how to make these beautiful and unique pieces! It requires working with epoxy resin, which can be messy, so we will take extra precautions to stay as neat as possible. The ability to follow instructions is imperative for this class! I look forward to seeing each student learn a new...
Students will learn the importance of following step-by-step instructions, patience and most importantly, creativity! This class focuses on having an eye for creativity and exerting patience throught the art of jewelry making. It is also an example of how two liquids mixed together can create a solid. The importance of using correct ratios of the mixtures through following instructions will lead to the best results!
The epoxy resin will take around 24-48 hours to harden. After class is complete, the final result will be revealed in around 24-48 hours so letting it set and being patient reveals the best results!
These materials can be found at Hobby Lobby *2 part clear coating and casting resin ($19.99) pssst use the online 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby *super glue ($6.99 for a 3 pack I believe) *bezel pendant (ranges from $3.99+) *pressed flower and/or leaf (the natural material needs to be thin) -make sure it will fit within the width of the pendant -sometimes the craft stores will have small packages of pressed flowers next to the bezel pendants *warm bowl of water *rubbing alcohol *paper towels Optional items: *Resin Jewelry Mold: this is what I set my bezels on when pouring the resin as it is a safe surface for accidental drippings! It's a safe surface for the pendants. And it's great to make individual pendants as well. (under $4 I believe) *pretty paper for the background inside the bezel pendant *scissors to cut the paper to fit inside the bezel pendant
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The epoxy resin is "not intended to be used by children under 13 years of age without adult supervision". We will be handling liquid resin and may require adult supervision. It can have a strong odor, so ventilation is recommended but not required.
