Description
Class Experience
Each student will get to choose a bug group (or species) to explore for the week. I will gauge how much they know about that bug, ask what inspired that week's request, and then work from there! Students are free to pick any insect, arachnid, myriapod, crustacean (arguably a bug), or pretty much any animal with an exoskeleton. We will look at the physical characteristics of their bug and how those characteristics apply to the bug's behavior. If available, we will also look at video clips of...
Students will dive deeper into bugs that have already sparked their interest.
I'm an entomologist.
Homework will be incredibly optional and at the request of each student/parent combo.
If crafts are requested, the student will need to obtain their own materials.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We may discuss predator/prey dynamics and bugs as disease vectors if applicable.
