This is an 8 week course that teaches the student how to play basic scales and a few songs.
Class experience
Students will learn how to find and name all of the notes on the piano. They will be able to play basic scales and chords and at least 1 piece of music. We will meet online using a piano (digital or acoustic) to learn to play. Class 1: Learning the names of the notes, navigating the piano using the black keys as a pattern. Learning to play the piano is a basic skill for all musicians. Whether you want to study voice or another instrument, piano provides a good foundation for understanding melody, harmony, theory, and rhythm. I have a Bachelor's Degree in music, a Master's Degree in education, many years of experience teaching private and group lessons.
I will provide music and technical exercises to the student. They do not have to purchase materials, however, if a student has materials they would like to learn, I encourage them to share these with me.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
