Class Experience

This one-time class is a perfect opportunity to show everyone what they have learned so far while working with Mark Weathers. Students will have the opportunity to meet others from my lessons and have practice announcing what pieces they will be playing. Students will be playing between 2 through 5 pieces. Students are welcomed to invite other family members in their household to watch.

They will have such fun performing for family members and have the option to dress up! Songs will be given/approved by Mr. Weathers or Mr. Mark.

***Students must have been enrolled in my Ongoing Private Piano Lessons courses or Fundamental of Piano Lessons courses. The length of class may run longer or shorter depending on the number of students enrolled. Beginner students will tend to play more songs because shorter songs, while more advanced students will play less songs but more length in time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Mark Weathers, but my students called me Mr. Mark. I started taking formal piano lessons when I was 10, but starting playing around when I was 7. My first passion for music from what I can remember has been showing other kids how to play some piano like Heart and Soul! I have been teaching for 8 years, and I am currently the chairman of my local Piano Festival Competition in my area, and organize meetings for all the piano teachers in my area to meet. I have been teaching piano, ukelele, cello for almost a decade full time. Teaching music has the been most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life, and I plan to do it for the rest of my life. I am an active member of Music Teacher's National Association and National Federation of Music Clubs.

I believe that music is for everyone and anyone can learn it. My role as a teacher is to help guide students towards their goals. While I am, classically trained with the piano I am open to students suggestions and questions during the learning process. Students will learn variety of styles from pop to blues to classical to jazz. I also help students with RCM exam prep for students who are interested.

I am actually a citizen of Alaska, and lived here my entire life. But a fan fact I have lived in the Phillippines for 2 years, where half of my family lives! When I'm not teaching music, I am hanging out with family, swimming in the lake, or painting! I love nature, and exploring the different opportunities Alaska offers. A fun goal would be to travel Canada and visit all 50 states in the future.
