Class Experience
In this class, the teacher will explain beginning music theory! Students will be following along in their own book to complete examples. The instructor will give examples of how to complete the work, and then students can write in their answers. An example schedule is as follows: Week 1 Dec 11 Music alphabet, basic diagram of notes, writing notes C, D, E Week 2 Dec 18 Reviewing CDE, adding FG noes, lines vs spaces, composing Week 3 Dec 25 Beats & counts/time signatures, sightreading notes, quick note recognition Week 4 Jan 1 Ear training- hearing notes going up, down, or repeating, music math Week 5 Jan 8 Composing, sightreading, Treble clef lines and spaces Week 6 Jan 15 Note values review, writing intervals, ear training steps vs skips Week 7 Jan 22 music math, adding eighth notes, composing Week 8 Jan 29 Note Stem direction rules, sightreading, final composition As you can see there will be plenty of opportunities for students to be creative and try their hand at creating their own music as well! This course will help any beginner music student to become more confident in their skills as a player, because knowing the theory behind the notes helps to make sense of what is on the written page! We will be working on aural skills as well in this class (listening and ear training) which will help students to become better musicians overall. This would be the perfect class to reinforce content & can be taken in conjunction with my beginner’s piano class - piano pronto prelude (part 1) https://outschool.com/classes/4c06fabc-e8b8-4f73-88a1-9f9d03a27ffd Beginner students in other piano classes may also join as we will be starting from the beginning and building from there!
