Class Experience

In this class, the teacher will explain beginning music theory! Students will be following along in their own book to complete examples. The instructor will give examples of how to complete the work, and then students can write in their answers.

We will learn about the Music alphabet, a basic diagram of notes, and learn to write notes C, D, E, F, and G. Along with plenty of note name review, we will be learning about line vs space notes. Another big focus of this class is composing! In order to do so, we will learn about Beats & counts/time signatures. We will be sightreading notes, and practicing quick note recognition. It is also very important to train our listening ears! We will be working on hearing notes going up, down, or repeating, and telling the difference between steps and skips. We will also have some fun with music math! We will learn to write intervals.
We will learn Note Stem direction rules, and do a final composition!

As you can see there will be plenty of opportunities for students to be creative and try their hand at creating their own music as well! This course will help any beginner music student to become more confident in their skills as a player, because knowing the theory behind the notes helps to make sense of what is on the written page! We will be working on aural skills as well in this class (listening and ear training) which will help students to become better musicians overall.

This would be the perfect class to reinforce content & can be taken in conjunction with my beginner’s piano class - piano pronto prelude (part 1) https://outschool.com/classes/4c06fabc-e8b8-4f73-88a1-9f9d03a27ffd

Beginner students in other piano classes may also join as we will be starting from the beginning and building from there!
