This is a two week class. I will asses the learner's level and individualize the lessons for them. I welcome learners of all indentities and backgrounds into my classes. Depending on the student's level and musical interests, I will teach material that they will enjoy. For beginners - I will familiarize the student with the keyboard, notes and hand position. We will learn some simple songs at the first class, to get them playing right away. I use my own materials, that are adaptable for different learning styles. You do not need to buy any books. The student will learn some basic warm - up exercises for each hand. They will be able to play with confidence and feel comfortable with the keyboard. .ividual learning style of the student. Each week , I will post some hand written papers and short videos into the outschool classroom, so that the student will be able to use those to practice with and to refresh what we did in the last class. For more advanced beginners and intermediate students - I teach popular and rock music for the piano. I have my own materials and proven teaching methods, that get the student progressing and enjoying the piano. I split my lessons between songs, and some creative musical aspects like improvising and simple composing. The student can suggest a musical style or songs that they like. I will listen to any song that they suggest, and see if it is something that we can work on.
Learning Goals
Students will learn where the notes are on the keyboard and the be able to find their way around the piano keyboard.
Students will learn a couple of basic scales.
The student will learn to play some basic chords with both the left and right hands.
We will do some basic improvising on a scale with the right hand , along with some chords in the left hand.
The student will learn some basic warm - up exercises for each hand.
They will be able to play with confidence and feel comfortable with the keyboard.
My teaching style is creative and adaptable , based on the individual learner. The student will be able to learn and enjoy piano in an encouraging environment.
