This class is a piano concert performance opportunity for any piano students. This ongoing class is an opportunity to come and play some piano performance pieces in a concert format and dress fancy or casually. Students will have the chance to play pieces that we have worked on in the First 4 Lessons, Piano Music CAMP, Piano Music Class Series (#1, #2, #3, #4, or Fur Elise), or with any other teacher, and have practiced on their own. This class is not intended to teach new music, but suggestions, hints, and compliments will be given. Performers have the option to volunteer as many times as they want during the class while taking turns with other learners. All levels of learners benefit from the chance to practice for a concert and perform for others. Please have print outs of your music to play or a second device to view your slideshows for the performance. The class will be set to Gallery mode so learners are also an audience and no screensharing will be available during performances. When learners have performed all of their prepared pieces, class will continue with either the suggested topic, a topic from learners' suggestions, or music games like Treble Clef BINGO, Bass Clef BINGO, Note Matching, or Guess that Interval. Suggested topics for discussion after performances: Week of 8/9-8/13: Concert preparedness, audience behavior, performers' expectations, audience's expectations. Week of 8/16-8/20: Music for Wellness. What type of music makes you feel happy? Week of 8/23-8/27: What are the most important things composers put in music? Week of 8/30-9/3: Do you listen to music during movies, cartoons, or video games? Week of 9/6-9/10: What is your favorite song right now, and why? Week of 9/13-9/17: Music for Wellness. Why do some songs make us sad, calm, happy, excited, or feel like dancing? Week of 9/20-9/24: What is your favorite way to practice piano? Do you set a timer? Do you keep a tally? Week of 9/27-10/1:Have you ever tried to compose your own music? What do you start with?
Learning Goals
Learners have the opportunity to have a goal date to practice pieces for performance. Learners will also be taught performance etiquette like introducing themselves, announcing their song choices, and applauding other performers. We will work on sharing our thoughts about the suggested topic or taking turns during the game activities depending on class choices and time limitations.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music from California State University, Long Beach
Hello! I am Mrs. Pauli. I am an online piano teacher for students who want to play songs and learn to read music! I have been a private piano teacher and music instructor for over 28 years after earning my BA in Music at California State University, Long Beach. My strength is in introducing music theory and piano skills to young students in a way that makes learners feel successful and confident. Students feel accomplished playing beautiful songs on piano while learning to read music and seeing their practice efforts pay off.
Please use the coupon code 💰 MELANIEP20 💰 on your first class enrollment on Outschool to save $20.
My classes run in a series starting from Piano Music Class Level A (Primer), next into Piano Music Class Level B through Piano Music Class Level J as consistent piano classes. Each class is billed weekly so learners can enroll in the appropriate level at any time based on mastery. There are approximately 20 unique lessons in each level so learners can enroll in a level at any week and continue as the schedule loops back to the start for Semester #2.
2025 Calendar:
Semester #1 : January 6 - June 2
Semester #2: June 3 - December 19

March 17-21 Spring Break,
July 1-10 Summer Break,

Dec 22-Jan 2 Winter Holiday)
I create my own curriculum so no book purchases are necessary and music is provided for learners. There are also performance opportunities, optional game classes, and holiday seasonal song classes. I offer a one-time assessment class that is available for learners who have previous piano experience as well as a Google Forms self-placement survey at this link: https://forms.gle/1JAjKonMvnEnQPHP7
A January 2025 survey of the Piano Music Class J (Advanced) students found that they have all been playing consistently for an average of 4 years and practice for an average of 3 hours total per week! Each of their schedules is uniquely dependent on family calendars and other commitments. They all intend to continue playing piano at least through high school or forever 💖. If you want to instill a love for music and piano in your learner, encourage a practice routine that is appropriate for their age and the level of material so they build the skills and experience consistent growth.
