40 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. We will be progressing through longer classical songs at a pace of one song per 4 weeks. Students need to practice the songs between classes to have a repertoire of many songs by the end of the semester. 🕒Recommended practice time is 15 minutes per practice, 2-3 times between classes. If a class is missed, the recording will be available on our classroom page and the slideshow will still be emailed with the new song and homework. Learners will be ready to graduate from Piano Music Class Level E when they have completed at least 3-4 of the 5 songs comfortably with both hands together and while watching the music.Assessment
✉️ Near the end of each seasonal term (Winter Term, Spring Term, Summer Term, Fall Term), an email will be sent to each learner with the recommendation for remaining in the current class for more mastery or moving on to the next level for more challenging material. Recommendation to advance to the next level will also be emailed when proficiency is observed by Mrs. Pauli in class.Class Experience
Intermediate Level
🎉 This small group piano class is for learners who are interested in playing the piano with both hands together and learning to read music. It follows a Level D class. 🎶Every week, learners will be given an exercise or song pages to practice and a lesson in reading music. We will learn about four composers while learning five classical songs. 👀 See the full 2025 calendar at the bottom of this class description 👇 press "Show More" Benefits of a group class over private lessons are: ⏲️ More affordable class for a longer session, 🙃 Hearing other learners around the same level making mistakes too, 🥳 Witnessing the benefits of practice done by others in their improvement, 👏 Having an audience in the next class that is not just your teacher (peers) as a reason to practice between classes. 🎹 Learners need to have a piano or keyboard during class to play along with Mrs. Pauli. 💻 Learners will need to be able to see their screen to view the music while playing on their instrument. No book purchases will be necessary in this class. All music has been arranged by Mrs. Pauli and will be provided and printable after class. A 3-ring binder with plastic page protectors is a great way to keep songs organized. 🎼This class is a fun piano class for students who have been playing piano for about 12 months. 🔠 If your student is an absolute beginner, I recommend one of the Introductory courses: Piano Music Class Level A - 50 minute class with music reading instruction https://outschool.com/classes/piano-music-class-level-a-My4XyRKL or Self-Paced Piano Lessons Level A - 4 week pre-recorded class with email interaction https://outschool.com/classes/piano-lessons-level-a-3CBViqyY 🗓️ The Piano Music Class series, PMC Level A (Primer) through PMC Level J are recurring classes designed so your learner can stay at the appropriate level until they are ready to graduate to the next level. 📈 Learners can progress through the Piano Music Class Series with Mrs. Pauli for over 4 years of consistent piano class material. At the end of the Series, learners should have the ability to read all sheet music, play beautiful pieces on piano, and 🔥have experienced the benefits of regular effort and practice in a skill🔥. 🎹Practicing between classes is highly recommended and would be necessary for continuous progression through levels of the Piano Music Class series as the material increases in difficulty for each level. ✅Please schedule your practice times as part of your commitment to piano classes in order to progress through the music at an enjoyable rate. Studies have shown that piano students who practice between lessons pursue music longer and have a better experience in lessons. This is an article from Steinway & Sons about the benefits of practicing piano: https://www.steinway.com/news/features/the-benefits-of-playing-piano. Outschool's no-show policy is that class will be closed after 10 minutes if no learners have logged on. https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/16379-learning-experience-pledge Winter Term dates: January 6 - January 12: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight-reading, Fur Elise page 1 RH/LH alone January 13 - January 19: Warm-ups, Beethoven composer history, Fur Elise page 1 with both hands January 20 - January 26: Warm-ups, C scale, Fur Elise page 2-3 RH/LH alone January 27 - February 2: Warm-ups, Exercise #36, Fur Elise page 2-3 with both hands February 3 - February 9: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight-reading, Turkish March page 1 February 10 - February 16: Warm-ups, G scale, Turkish March page 2 February 17 - February 23: Warm-ups, D scale, Turkish March page 3 February 24 - March 2: Warm-ups, Exercise #37, Turkish March page 4 March 3 - March 9: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight-reading, Beautiful Dreamer page 1 RH/LH alone March 10 - March 16: Warm-ups, Stephen Foster composer history, Beautiful Dreamer page 1 with both hands ***Spring Break*** No Class (no charges) Spring Term Dates: March 24 - March 30: Warm-ups, A scale, Beautiful Dreamer page 2 RH/LH alone March 31 - April 6: Warm-ups, Exercise #38, Beautiful Dreamer page 2 with both hands April 7 - April 13: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight-reading, Autumn Hunt page 1 RH/LH alone April 14 - April 20: Warm-ups, Antonio Vivaldi composer history, Autumn Hunt page 1 with both hands April 21 - April 27: Warm-ups, E scale, Autumn Hunt page 2-3 RH/LH alone April 28 - May 4: Warm-ups, Exercise #39, Autumn Hunt page 2-3 with both hands May 5 - May 11: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight reading, In the Hall of the Mountain King page 1 RH/LH alone May 12 - May 18: Warm-ups, Edvard Grieg composer history, In the Hall of the Mountain King page 1 with both hands May 19 - May 25: Warm-ups, Exercise #40, In the Hall of the Mountain King page 2 RH/LH alone May 26 - June 2 (No lesson on Memorial Day - US Holiday) Warm-ups, Composer review, In the Hall of the Mountain King page 2 with both hands ***Summer Break*** No Class (no charges) Summer Term Dates: June 16 - June 22: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight-reading, Fur Elise page 1 RH/LH alone June 23 - June 29: Warm-ups, Beethoven composer history, Fur Elise page 1 with both hands June 30 - July 6: Warm-ups, C scale, Fur Elise page 2-3 RH/LH alone July 7 - July 12: Warm-ups, Exercise #36, Fur Elise page 2-3 with both hands July 13 - July 19: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight-reading, Turkish March page 1 July 20 - July 26: Warm-ups, G scale, Turkish March page 2 July 27 - August 3: Warm-ups, D scale, Turkish March page 3 August 4 - August 10: Warm-ups, Exercise #37, Turkish March page 4 August 11 - August 17: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight-reading, Beautiful Dreamer page 1 RH/LH alone August 18 - August 24: Warm-ups, Stephen Foster composer history, Beautiful Dreamer page 1 with both hands ***Fall Break*** No Class (no charges) Fall Term Dates: September 8 - September 14: Warm-ups, A scale, Beautiful Dreamer page 2 RH/LH alone September 15 - September 21: Warm-ups, Exercise #38, Beautiful Dreamer page 2 with both hands September 22 - September 28: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight-reading, Autumn Hunt page 1 RH/LH alone September 29 - October 5: Warm-ups, Antonio Vivaldi composer history, Autumn Hunt page 1 with both hands October 6 - October 12: Warm-ups, E scale, Autumn Hunt page 2-3 RH/LH alone October 13 - October 19: Warm-ups, Exercise #39, Autumn Hunt page 2-3 with both hands October 20 - October 26: Warm-ups, 7 Steps of sight reading, In the Hall of the Mountain King page 1 RH/LH alone October 27 - November 2: Warm-ups, Edvard Grieg composer history, In the Hall of the Mountain King page 1 with both hands November 3 - November 9: Warm-ups, Exercise #40, In the Hall of the Mountain King page 2 RH/LH alone November 10 - November 16 Warm-ups, Composer review, In the Hall of the Mountain King page 2 with both hands November 17 - November 23: Warm-ups, Shchedryk page 1, BINGO game ***Thanksgiving week*** No Class (no charges) December 1 - December 7: Warm-ups, Shchedryk page 2, BINGO game December 8 - December 14: Warm-ups, Shchedryk page 3, BINGO game December 15 - December 21: Warm-ups, Auld Lang Syne, BINGO game ***Winter Holiday Break*** No Class (no charges)

Pre-Requisites
Piano Music Class Level D or email to Mrs. Pauli to discuss previous experience
Learners enrolling in PMC-E should know:
The keys on the piano, read music notes without hints
Able to play with hands together.
Time to practice 2-3x/w
Supply List
🎹 Access to a piano or keyboard during lesson where the learner's elbows are the same height as the keys. 🔥 Keyboards on tables are often too high (chest or shoulder height) which can harm wrists and hinder movement 🔥. Stand at the keyboard, find a tall chair, use a cushion, or use a keyboard stand to make the keys at the proper level. 💻Students need to be able to see the classroom screen where the music will be shown in a slideshow while they are sitting at their piano. 👂It is very important to make sure I can hear your piano and that it is not blocked by the background noise suppression through Zoom. 👉**Please turn on "Original Sound for Musicians" in the Zoom audio settings before class. ** If you need instructions on how to enable this setting, please watch this youtube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEZMRtrSsYY Students using a desktop or laptop can adjust this setting during the meeting. However, students using a phone or tablet must enable Original Sound before entering the class or I may not be able to hear your piano. In some instances the "Original Sound for Musicians" still does not work on some microphones, if that is the case with your device, we may try to use a "Low" noise suppression setting instead of "Auto". Please test your device in a zoom call to see if the microphone picks up the piano without anyone talking at the same time. 🎼 After each class, Learners will get access to a class slideshow in their email with the songs, exercises, or homework pages weekly for practicing. A 3-ring binder and plastic page protectors may help you keep the printed music sheets organized. 📝 Learners may like having paper and pencil.
