Learners will be taught new music lines from songs on piano each week. Over the total 20 different lesson cycling series, we will cover six different composers, note reading, rhythm counting, articulation, key names, and musical terms with games. Learners can start the 20 lesson series at any point and complete all 20 for the entire experience. The class will resume at Lesson #1 following Lesson #20. The music will be provided to the learners after each class in a Google slideshow so the learner can practice new material. Each lesson is new piano music to learn. This series can be started at any week and continued for 20 weeks to complete the series if your learner wishes to continue on to Piano Music Class 7. (ex. Lesson #1 - Lesson #20) (ex. start with Lesson #7 - Lesson #20 and continue with Lesson #1 - Lesson #6)
We will be learning new lines of music each week. Students who continue to practice the songs after our class will have a repertoire of many songs by the end of the 20 lesson series no matter which week they start participating in the ongoing class. Recommended practice time is 20-30 minutes per practice, four or five times after class.
Learners need to be able to see the slideshow on their screen during class while they are at their keyboard or piano. Learners will get access to a class slideshow after class with the songs and instructions. Pencil and paper is optional.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Google Slideshow links for each lesson are provided after class to the learner's Outschool system email. Music slides may be printed for practicing off screens. We will be using Kahoot during class in a few of the lessons. Learners may choose to play the Kahoot on their own device by splitting the screen, use a separate device to play, or make their guesses in the chat box while we use the game in class to review information. Learners will NOT be asked to play Kahoot on their own after class. Any youtube videos posted on the Classroom page will be opened in a small window on Outschool. Learners will NOT be asked to go to Youtube on their own.
