Description
Class Experience
The learner will read and play notes on the treble staff and bass staff. National Music Standards • MU:Pr4.2.6b When analyzing selected music, read and identify by name or function standard symbols for rhythm, pitch, articulation, and dynamics. • MU:Pr6.1.5a Perform music, alone or with others, with expression, technical accuracy, and appropriate interpretation.
Learners will also have a link to view video examples of each song. The pacing of this course may be adjusted as needed. Additional songs will be added as needed. Listed below are the songs that will introduced each week: Week 1 - "William Tell Overture" (Rossini) Week 2 - "Alouette" Week 3 - "Ode to Joy" (Beethoven) Week 4 - "Lavender's Blue" Week 5 - "Chopsticks" Week 6 - Review, Learners play a final performance for class
Learners need a piano/keyboard, binder or folder, and a pencil. Downloadable materials will be provided.
Learners will be informally assessed on demonstration of basic piano skills and music theory through class performance and activities.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Learners will be give a link to a practice page that is just for their class. The link is on my website and will include videos of the songs recorded by me. There are also PDFs of the music with teacher notations to assist learners as they practice.
