Description

Class Experience

The learner will read and play notes on the treble staff and bass staff in the key of C. 

National Music Standards
*MU:Pr4.2.6b When analyzing selected music, read and identify by name or function standard symbols for rhythm, pitch, articulation, and dynamics.
*MU:Pr6.1.5a Perform music, alone or with others, with expression, technical accuracy, and appropriate interpretation.
Learners should practice between each lesson to be prepared for the next week. 

Weekly Treble Clef Line Challenges will be given to the learners to facilitate memorizing the treble lines.

Week 1 - "Firefly"
Week 2 -  "Little River" and "Sailing in the Sun"
Week 3 - "Ferris Wheel"
Week 4 - "Jumping Beans" and "The Haunted House"
Week 5 - "Classic Dance" and  "Young Hunter"
Week 6 - Final performances and Review Game

(The pacing of this course may be adjusted as needed.)
Learners must purchase their own copies of Faber Piano Adventures Level 1 book which can be found through several vendors. https://pianoadventures.com/publications/piano-adventures-level-1-lesson-book-2nd-edition/ Learners also need a pencil to make notations in their books throughout class. Learners will be given a Piano Progress Chart and Treble Line Challenge Cards to be used throughout the course. Learners may choose to purchase supplemental books for Level 1, but the lesson book will be the primary resource in each class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learners will be informally assessed on demonstration of basic piano skills and music theory.
Learners can self-assess their progress as the practice and complete challenges at home.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Learners will be given a link to a practice page that is just for their class. The link is on my website and may include video demonstrations of the songs recorded by the teacher and play along audio. There are no outside links on the practice page.
