During this ongoing individualized class, the teacher will work with the student to provide a strong piano background based on their current level. Piano is about forming confidence and excitement about music! My teaching style is very relaxed and encouraging. Students will learn and work on note-reading, fingering, multiple hand positions, music theory, and playing several piano pieces per week. I believe a lot in student “choice” and encourage my students to supplement their piano book repertoire with other pieces that interest them (i.e. pop music, classical, Disney, etc…). I will help provide that music for the student. Songs and theory worksheets will be provided each week for students to download and print prior to the start of their lesson. Fifteen to twenty minutes will be spent on technique, song review, and learning new songs and musical concepts. The last part of the lesson will be spent on theory games and worksheets to ensure students fully understand the concepts being taught in their songs. If a student is at a Level 1 or higher, parents will be responsible for ordering the books needed for the class. If a student is just beginning (primer level), the teacher will provide the materials for the first 6 weeks. Level 1: Accelerated Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner Level 1 (Lesson and Performance Book) Level 1B: Alfred’s Basic Piano Level 1B (Lesson and Recital Book) Level 2: Accelerated Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner Level 2 (Lesson and Performance Book) Level 3: Alfred’s Basic Piano Level 3 (Lesson and Recital Book) Level 4: Alfred’s Basic Piano Level 4 (Lesson and Recital Book)
Learning Goals
The student will learn to play the piano or continue their piano journey from whatever level they start with.

Hello, and welcome to my profile!
My goal is to guide learners through the enriching world of writing, the practicality of important adulting life skills, and the everyday relevance of consumer math and personal finance. Setting learners up for success now and later on in their life is essential, and I hope to be part of that journey! Recently being recognized as an Outstanding Educator on Outschool in both 2023 and 2024 has further motivated me to create an empowering and engaging learning environment for all learners!
My academic journey led me to acquire Bachelor's Degrees in English, Journalism, Writing, Finance, and Music, topped with a Master’s Degree in Education. I LOVE to learn and share that knowledge with others 🙂. Throughout my teaching tenure, I spent 21 years in a high school setting, am an adjunct professor, and the proud owner of a private piano studio. With my experience of 26 years in teaching, both online and in-person, I've honed my skills to become a multifaceted educator passionate about fostering growth and knowledge. I am here to help your learners grow and gain confidence!
🌟My teaching approach is patient and hands-on, designed to engage learners of all ability levels. I've worked extensively with a broad spectrum of students, ensuring that learning is accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
🌟My classrooms are a safe and welcoming space where all learners are respected and valued. I celebrate diversity and strive to create an inclusive environment where every student can feel comfortable being themselves while learning and growing.
🌟The courses I offer are as diverse as my experience, covering an expansive range of subjects like writing, literature, consumer math, personal finance, and a host of practical adulting skills.
🌟A little bonus for animal lovers—my cat, Tybalt, often makes a cameo during classes! When I'm not in the virtual classroom, I cherish my time with my three amazing children, play the piano, enjoy a good workout, or unwind with a book at the lake.
🌟My mission goes beyond just teaching—I strive to build confidence in each learner, helping them grow into the best version of themselves. I'm excited to be part of your learning journey here on Outschool. Let's learn and explore together!
