This is a single piano lesson for a complete beginner or an advanced beginner.
I ask that you have the keys labelled on the piano.
There are 11 keys that I like to have labelled. I will post a diagram and instructions for labeling the keys for you. er, or an advanced beginner student. You can retake this class as many times as you like, and we will continue where we left off.

I have a relaxed teaching style but still focus on skills and leveling up the student's current ability.

I welcome learners of all identities ans backgrounds into my classes.

I try to choose songs that the student will enjoy and I use a variety of different styles of music.
This way, the student can experience a variety of different styles, time periods , and techniques.

Some of the things we will focus on are rhythm , steady beat, melody , chords, musical form and keys.

The songs that I bring to the lessons range from classical , to blues , to rock to folk.
There will also be traditional songs and nursery rhymes, depending on the age and level of the student.

I will introduce some sight reading , when the time is right and when the student has the basic hand positions and seating position working well.
Some students like to choose songs that they like and I try to accommodate that when possible.
I love to get the students improvising and creating their own sound. So I often do some improvising exercises and get them playing a solo on a certain set of notes, while I play the chords.
When the student is ready , I have them play the chords in the left hand , while improvising with the right hand.
If the student is brand new, we will play melodies with the right hand.
Once they are ready , we will add chords in the left hand, while playing the melody in the right.
You can take several single - sessions or you can enroll in a 3-week or a 2-week private session , after this class.
You could also choose to enroll in one of my group classes. I will let you know which level they are a fit for.
