2-4 hours per week. Play the piano! Enjoy the sounds you create and play daily to improve on the skills learned each week.Assessment
Assessment will be based on listening to the student enjoy playing the pieces introduced each class, and include the rhythm, notation style and dynamics. Each week we will aim to learn new concepts and progress through chosen pieces.Class Experience
Want to have fun playing piano? Would you like to encourage the love of music for your child? Let's learn piano through songs and music games! Learning to play an instrument can be fun and rewarding and a skill that your child will find benefit from throughout their life. So why not have fun while learning! One-on-one time with a teacher will customize the journey of learning piano specifically to the students pace. This class is appropriate for the very beginner through intermediate student. This course is designed for children age 7 to 12 years, the beginner, or for a student with some piano experience. Please let me know if you have any piano experience so that I can recommend the correct level of book for your student before the first class. Students will need to purchase their own materials for this course. Bastien, Faber and Faber and Alfred series are some of the resources I can teach from. However if you have a favorite series you may suggest it to me and I'll take a look at it to teach from. Students will need a piano or full sized keyboard for the class. One book is required for the class and students may bring new pieces to class to learn. These materials will be needed during class time and throughout the week to practice. This class meets for 25 minutes. We will learn through songs and virtual music games too! Consistent consecutive classes are best for growing musically. Please make a request for additional times and I will try my best to accommodate you! I look forward to having fun creating and learning music with your child!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the fundamentals of the piano, rhythm, note reading, technique, and musicality. We will discuss right hand- and left-hand position, starting with the C position. We will discuss basic theory such as grand staff, time signature, rhythm, and repeat signs. If the student has more experience, we will start where they are and as ready, dive into key signatures, dynamics and technique. Favorite songs will be included as brought to class!
