Students will learn the fundamentals of the piano, rhythm, note reading, technique, and musicality. We will discuss right hand- and left-hand position, starting with the C position. We will discuss basic theory such as grand staff, time signature, rhythm, and repeat signs. If the student has more experience, we will start where they are and as ready, dive into key signatures, dynamics and technique. Favorite songs will be included as brought to class!
Several years of teaching experience with a varied age range and level of students, classically trained.
Play the piano! Enjoy the sounds you create and play daily to improve on the skills learned each week.
Assessment will be based on listening to the student enjoy playing the pieces introduced each class, and include the rhythm, notation style and dynamics. Each week we will aim to learn new concepts and progress through chosen pieces.
25 minutes per class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Piano or keyboard, lesson books discussed, and a pencil and paper!
