In this ongoing, online course, your student will learn piano skills and songs at an intermediate level.
Class experience
Piano songs, skills, theory, and techniques will be taught at an intermediate level. The student must be able to read music on the staff and know basic music symbols and terms. Topics covered: songs by Mozart, Beethoven and songs from Carol Matz level 1B, depending on student's level. Scales, chords and theory will also be introduced from the Cascade Method. Students will improve their piano skills by learning songs at the intermediate level from Carol Matz Interactive Piano, Level 1B. Students will improve technique by playing scales and chords while using the Cascade Method Theory and Chords book.
A piano or keyboard is required for this course. Please make sure that your learner knows how to adjust the volume on the device and/or keyboard. Music files will be sent in PDF files that must be downloaded and/or printed out. If the learner will be using a device to access files, please place device in front of the keyboard. In this way, the learner is facing front and can see both the keyboard keys and music, without turning back and forth. If the learner will be printing out the music materials, please provide a 3 ring binder, or pronged folder, in order to keep the pages organized. Notebook paper or a spiral notebook is also highly encouraged for note taking. But practice reminders will be posted on the classroom page. Learner needs to keep a pencil handy for each lesson meeting. If the learner has already started with a method book or other music, please let me know the specific information for it. If I determine that it does fit the student's needs and level, I'll be glad to continue with it.
