This class is for Learners who are interested in learning to play the Piano. Learners will receive individualized instruction through the classroom and will gather in class weekly to collaborate with other learners.

1 hour per week. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Practice makes perfect”! Learners can expect to spend between 60-90 minutes a week on this class between their learning and practice time. Some learners may require a little more practice, as we all have different learning abilities. Learners will upload recordings of themselves playing their assignments and also complete written Theory pages that will help with comprehension of our learning each week.Class Experience

Prior to enrolling in this class, learners new to the Piano must complete one of my Prerequisite Classes listed below. The goal of this class is to provide a place learners to grow together in their journey of learning the piano, but at their own pace. Most learners will be beginners, however some may have a little more experience. You may ask, "How can students learn if they're all at different levels?" I'm glad you asked! CLASS DAYS Learners will attend class to, review Piano Concepts, get additional instruction, have the opportunity to ask for additional guidance on their specific lesson and play for one another if they feel comfortable. We will cheer one another on and support each other through positive feedback. MONDAYS Learners will view a short video lesson from the instructor that will be at their piano playing level. Learners will be able to view this video at a time that works best for them and even stop, pause or go back to areas they need to view again. TUESDAYS-SATURDAYS Learners will view the Lesson Video, practice their song(s), and complete assignments. SUNDAYS Learners should have all assignments turned in and submit a recording to the instructor playing their weekly song by 8:00 p.m. EST. WEEKLY FOCUS AND GAMES Class 1- Test Your Piano Knowledge! Class 2- Name that Key! Class 3- Treble Clef Review Class 4- Bass Clef Review Class 5- Grand Staff Class 6- Melodic Intervals Class 7- Harmonic Intervals Class 8- Expression Class 9- Popular Pianists and Composers ...and more to come including class suggestions!! Learners will be held accountable and motivated to excel through our weekly class, the encouragement of their peers and video feedback of their song recordings from the instructor. This class does require some independent learning with the guidance of an experienced instructor. With this class format, learners are able to come and go as they need to, but are encouraged to attend regularly to see growth! It is my hope that we will build a strong community of learners who share a similar interest!

Parental Guidance
Learners will record themselves playing their songs on the Piano/Keyboard for this class using an Outside Platform called Flipgrid. They should be seated at a Keyboard or Piano and video should be set up so they can be seen from their head to lower rib cage. Their hands should be clearly visible in these recordings to allow for teacher feedback. We will use Kahoot, noted in the Materials Section, to allow students to interact through review games.

Hello Outschool Families! I’m a certified educator in the USA. I've been teaching on Outschool for two years now and have loved establishing relationships with learners and their families, some I still have since I started! I've been teaching the Piano for just over 15 years and teaching a variety of other Performing Arts subjects since graduating with my degree in Music Education in 2009.
Music has been a passion of mine since I was a child. I grew up in a musical family, sang in church and school, began piano lessons in first grade, was in several musicals, was in the band where I played the flute and piccolo, and lead music at my church on the worship team. I am passionate about students and education! Here are a couple facts about me.
