Having knowledge about music theory and note-reading or sight-reading along with the piano technique basics, will guarantee the students success when starting the instrument. During this class, students will learn how to read music in an interactive way. And most importantly, they will be able to play simple songs. After completing this course, they can continue their studies and development on the next levels, where they will have all the knowledge and skills to play the songs they love and more. This class follows a series of different piano methods, but the teacher will provide all the practice material and songs. Week 1: Introduction to piano basics: Finger numbers, posture, hands position and relaxation, music alphabet. Introduction to music theory: Music alphabet, key note names, 5-finger-scale. Week 2: We will start practicing the 5-finger C Major Scale with both hands, which is going to help us to build the foundation of a good piano technique from the beginning. Students will start playing different songs. Regarding music theory, we will be learning beat/rhythm and note durations. We will review the previous concepts and add new ones: The Staff and Clefs. This is the moment when we start to read music! Week 3: We will start exploring the keyboard and sheet music. The students will finish reading their piece, separated hands, slow tempo. We will add new concepts: The Grand Staff, Line Notes and Space Notes. Week 4: We will review The Grand Staff, Line Notes, Space Notes and Clefs. Students will be able to play their pieces with both hands.
