The Piano is a timeless instrument, but most people spend years picking up the concepts needed to play it. Want all of the knowledge you will need to practice and play the Piano in one month? Welcome to Piano For Fun! In this course, students will receive training with a professional musician of many years. This is group instruction in how to develop coordination, confidence, and love for music on the piano. Class time will be split between instruction and play. Half of the time will be...
1) What is a Piano? - How to sit and play properly - What pitches are where to find them - What a scale is - The C Major scale - Begin "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in the right hand 2) Sheet Music: Meter, Notes, and Chords, - What Meter is and how to count time signature - What notes and chords are - Revisit C Major scale with chords - "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in the right hand 3) Sheet Music: Dynamics, and Tempos - What dynamics are - What tempos are - "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" adding the left hand 4) Putting It All Together - "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in both hands
There will be no official homework each week. However, it is recommended that the student revisits, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to keep the song and techniques we're learning fresh in their memory.
Students will need a webcam for the class. They will also need a piano (or keyboard), and a way to show their finger-placements on the piano as they play. This can be done by setting up the webcam to capture both the student's face and hands. Sheet music and any other materials used will be posted in the classroom comments section. Class will be easier for the student if these materials are printed out and brought to class.
Students will not be graded. They will receive direct feedback and helpful tips from the teacher as they pick up new concepts.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
