Homework
1-2 hours per week. I will suggest some things to practice between each lesson. Any papers or short videos needed for practicing will be posted in the Outschool classroom. Students can access those materials each week, as they need them.
Assessment
Informal assessment and communication about how the student is progressing, and what they need to focus on.

I welcome learners of all identities and backgrounds into my classes. 

This course is for novice beginners, or advanced beginners to piano. We will cover basic chords, basic scales, and learn to play with both hands on the keyboard. 
The student will learn to improvise on a simple scale with their right hand, while playing chords in the left hand. 
We will cover some basic music theory , in regards to keys, scales and chords. 
The student will get a feel for the keyboard and experience playing piano , to have a better idea of what it is like. 
My teaching style is creative and adaptable , based on the individual learner. 
I teach to accommodate the individual learning style of the student. 
Each week , I will post some hand written papers and short videos into the outschool classroom, so that the student will be able to use those to practice with and to refresh what we did in the last class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn where the notes are on the keyboard and the be able to find their way around the keyboard. 
Students will learn a couple of basic scales. 
The student will learn to play some basic chords with both  the left and right hands. 
We will do some basic improvising on a scale with the right hand , along with some chords in the left hand. 
The student will learn some basic warm - up exercises for each hand. 
They will be able to play with confidence and feel comfortable with the keyboard. .

Supply List
A piano or Electric keyboard. 
For electric keyboard- a way to plug it into a nearby outlet, or batteries for the instrument. 
A way to set up their device for Zoom, so that I can see their hands on the instrument, for teaching purposes.
