Class experience
Students will be assessed on their level of technique performance and then given a new assignment each week for improvement. Learners will be tutored on their most challenging areas to strengthen their technique foundations for examinations and playing agility. Techniques Learned: Musicianship: Ear Tests – Intervals – Chords – Chord Progressions – Playback (traditional or improvised) Sight Reading – Rhythm – Playing Scales: Major Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor – One Hand – Two hands – Two...
This class is taught in English.
Students will learn technique and etudes to improve playing and performance accuracy, agility, speed, and endurance. Performance techniques such as memorization skills and music interpretation will improve. Performance anxiety tips offered for learners who will be performing live for examinations and festivals.
I have taught piano lessons for more than 40 years. I have studied to grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music and have performed in various roles in musicals, competitions and played as an accompanist for singers, groups and dance schools. I also had the wonderful opportunity to act as the lead female role in a 32 act musical play many years ago!
Homework Offered
Each student will be assigned a specific time for daily practice and is expected to follow that set time allotment for daily practice.Assessments Offered
Learners performing examinations or live performances will be assessed as "Complete" or "In Progress". If the learner has not practiced and is not nearly ready, they will be assigned an "Learning" status on their report.Grades Offered
Each student will be given some free PDF handouts as needed and will be advised after the first lesson assessment which materials to purchase which can be ordered online, according to their performance requests and examination preparation. Typical costs for repertoire books, technique books, and sheet music in each grade averages around $100 or less.
