If you want to learn how to play the piano but aren’t sure where to start, then this class is for you! In this camp, you will learn some basic skills. By the end of the week, you will be able to play a song! This course will teach you everything you need to know to start piano lessons. This camp is interactive, so students will be expected to participate. Each class session will begin with an introduction to a new skill. Then, we will spend the rest of the class time practicing the new skill. On days two, three, and four, we will also review the skills learned on previous days. Day One: We will begin by learning finger numbers and exploring the keyboard. Day Two: Today, we will learn more about the keys on the keyboard. Day Three: We’re going to learn about rhythm today. Day Four: Now, we’re ready to learn a song!
Learning Goals
By the end of this camp, students will master the following skills:
- right vs. left hand
- finger numbers
- high and low end of the keyboard
- sets of twos and threes on the keyboard
- sitting at the piano
- clapping a rhythm with quarter, half, and whole notes
- playing a simple song

Supply List
Students will need a piano or a keyboard (at least 46 keys, but more keys is optimal if you plan on continuing with weekly lessons). You will also need access to a printer to print a few pages.
