Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Beginner Level
I am offering an at-home physical education class for teens! Physical education is important not only for our bones and muscles, it's also important for a student's motor development and mental health. Any type of movement or exercise improves a student's attention span. It also helps to build new brain cells and makes us feel better and happier throughout the day. Unlike in-person physical education, this class focuses on non-contact sports and exercise. The best part...we are going to have a blast doing it, and boost our confidence at the same time!

Every class will begin with a warm-up. The warm-up will include stretching, isolations, and movements that get the muscles and heart pumping. Then we will go into the theme for that week. I will warm-up with the students, and talk them through each warm-up. This will help them both see and hear what they should be doing. Different exercises that we will work with in class are:

Body weight exercise: Body weight exercises increase strength and stamina using your own body weight. Examples such as push-ups, planks, and crunches.
Walking and stretching: Just like it sounds. We will have step goal for this class. Then we go through low impact stretches that target our legs, arms, and entire body.
Exercise-based dancing: A basic dance inspired work-out to popular music of today.
Sports drills: Fitness based on drills a student will see during a sports practice.

No prior experience is needed. All fitness levels are welcomed and encouraged. The great thing about this class is we will touch on different activities which will help a student find the activity that they enjoy the most, and may continue for the future.

When I teach a lesson, I will push students to be their best, but I do it in a way that I hope and believe boosts confidence. I help students to understand how to use their bodies. I won't just give a correction; I will explain to the student why I've given that correction and ways to help them improve.

Students will get to interact with me as much as they'd like. I am also very engaging throughout class, and will talk the class through every exercise, and give tips and corrections along the way. I will encourage student interaction with one another, I believe it will make the class more fun! However, for students who are not comfortable with that, I am not here to push them to that. I want this class to be a fun and safe space for all.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Sometimes students might feel shy especially participating in things they are not comfortable with. I am very flexible in attending to each student's needs so that they each get the best out of each class. For this class, the student should have a big enough space to move around in. The student should also make sure to dress comfortably and have water nearby.
Supply List
Comfortable clothing and a water bottle. At times, I may ask students the week before to find something around their house such as a ball or can for increased benefits.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
