A new project every week to expand on photoshop skills. The student will learn about and learn how to use the most common tools in Photoshop through weekly projects.

My experience spans 20+ years of adobe product usage including Photoshop. I am a professional graphic designer and photographer by trade as well as an art teacher at a local private school. I use Adobe products daily. This course is an ongoing course throughout the summer for learning the basics of Photoshop tools and features through project base learning. Each week will be a new project so students can join in at anytime. We will go over the most commonly used tools in photoshop briefly in each class at the beginning as well as go into depth with certain tools through each weeks new project! Each week I will post what kind of graphics to search for for class to be ready to get started each week on the project! STUDENT MUST HAVE IMAGES SAVED TO COMPUTER AT THE START OF CLASS. Please be respectful of other students and make sure to have your images ready to go! I will post a reminder. June 13: Create your own animal and put in a silly background Need 3 animal pictures and a background saved to your desktop June 20: TEACHER OUT ON BREAK June 27: Starry night camping composite Provided Camping picture, You find 4 images of things that would be interesting in the night sky..sea life, martians, superman... July 11: Pop Art Pet Portrait A good clear portrait of your pet or find an animal picture online, a line art, geographic art or pop art background (think graphic not photographic, something digitally designed for your background) July 18: Macro Project You will need the magnifying glass file that I will provide, you supply a picture of an animal or insect and then a macro image of that animal or insect. July 25: Initials Need 3 images of things that you love (think of busy backgrounds like a page of puppies if you love puppies) Aug 1: Black and White with color You will need an image that has at least one item full of color
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to operate and get creative with Photoshop. Each class will provide a new project to broaden the use of different photoshop tools. Each class taken will be one step closer to becoming a photoshop wiz! The goal will be to learn to navigate photoshop tools throughout the 40 minute class and have a final graphic at the end to review and expand on after class.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Student will be using the internet search engine on their computer to find quick graphics to work with for their projects. We will not be searching graphic content, however as we all know in this digital age, inappropriate imagery is all over the internet and at times cannot be controlled.
Supply List
I have a free online resource that is very similar to photoshop that will be using! I do not want photoshop to be a requirement for this class. Photoshop is VERY similar to this free tool that we will be using online. I also have photoshop and will pull it up if necessary to help a student that is using photoshop. It is best to take this class on the computer that you are designing on so that screen share is available if you need help!
