Photography,Storytelling & Preserving Family Memories: Be a Keeper of Memories
Class experience
Students will learn how to capture family history as it happens, and be intentional about it. Being the Keeper of Memories is more than just taking pictures. It’s also documenting - putting in writing the who, what, when, where, and why of the photos and the event, and keeping everything in one place. Photographing people and events can be work, but it is fun, and students: -Will learn new things and become more skillful in taking pictures. -Will learn to be and think more creatively ...
Students will learn to use a documentation sheet for planning out their photo assignment Student will learn photography techniques for making the best pictures possible and how to avoid common mistakes
Homework Offered
Learners will be given a photojournalistic assignment "A Day in My Life" which they can complete on their own, following the outline given in class. For those who want to continue, this assignment will be worked on further in the Keeper of Memories Photo Club.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Students are encouraged to bring their cameras to class, and we’ll go over certain functions of the camera they’ll be using. Students must be familiar with the cameras they'll be using. Cell phone and tablet cameras are okay to use. They will also need to know how and where to save their images. Having their own USB drive is suggested For students that will continue, their images will need to be uploaded to a drive they can share from, such as Google Drive.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
