Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
The goal of this class is to build a portfolio various images while learning about photography. This will happen through learning and homework each week of class as outlined in the topics above.
The class requires some online work and homework so it would be best if a parent is present to assist or be nearby to keep your child safe online. The online work is on a Photoshop/GIMP program for editing and a portfolio/gallery website resource of your choice as listed in the resources.
Homework will be learning about their cameras, taking images, editing images, uploading images to their galleries/portfolio online etc. These will be completed individually. This should take about 30-60 minutes each week, depending on the person.
The links provided are what you need to have before class starts, a camera, editing software, and an ability to create albums for your photos on your computer or phone.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The student is assessed by the progress of the album each week and how well the homework was completed. There are no formal assessments given. Each learner will gain knowledge and skill as a reward for working hard!
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
The student will need any kind of camera, i.e. DSLR digital, iphone or smart phone camera, or a point & shoot.

An online digital portfolio space that is easily accessed by the teacher and student.

An editing program is needed like Photoshop, and GIMP is a good free alternative. If your student wants to do this for a longer length of time, then photoshop would be a good investment.
