Description

Class Experience

By the end of the week, you'll know how to confidently use your camera in manual mode as well as the various automatic and partially automatic modes.

Technically, that means you'll understand ISO, shutter speed, aperture, how to change each of them and why you would want to. You'll understand how to use manual focus and auto focus and will have an understanding of many of the buttons and dials you see on the camera body.
I've been a professional photographer since 2001 and have a wide range of photography experience, including many years photographing babies and children. I've been teaching photography for over ten years to professional photographers, enthusiasts and teens through group workshops, private lessons and online classes.

I'm recognized as a Master Photographer by the Professional Photographers of America and was also awarded the organization's Photographic Craftsman degree in recognition of my work teaching other professional photographers.
Throughout the week I'll give you assignments that'll reinforce and enhance the learning experience. I strongly believe that the best way to retain what you've learned and become an awesome photographer is to practice, practice, practice!
What cameras are right for this class? This class is about DSLR cameras. Probably the easiest way to find out if yours is a DSLR is to do a Google search for "Is the [insert camera make and model here] a DSLR?" Please feel free to contact me prior to enrollment if you are not sure if your camera is right for this class. You can get in touch by using the Ask a Question button under my teacher profile. Please bring the following to each class: 1) Printed PDF that you will receive several days before class starts 2) DSLR camera 3) Any lenses you have for the camera 3) Make sure your battery is charged and that you have enough room on your memory card to take pictures.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
