Photography 1: Introduction to Photography
Class experience
We will focus on the basics of photography and throughout class we will work on building confidence in taking and presenting photographs. Weeks 1-3 will each include a project to be completed for the following Monday. This will ensure student critiques and feedback before moving on to the next week's project. In week 4 we will be turning in and gaining feedback on our final projects. If you are interested in this class, but scheduling is an issue, please consider my intro to photography flex...
It is my goal to have each student finish this camp with more confidence in their photography as well as project ideas to keep growing in their photography. They will also have a better understanding of their own camera and general photography terms.
A camera! (and everything your camera needs to work. Charged batteries, camera cards, card reader or USB cord to upload photos etc. If you are not sure if you have the needed supplies, please ask) For this class we will be learning about the basics of photography and framing. A quality smart phone will be sufficient for this class, but I do recommend considering the use of a DSLR. We will also need to be able to upload photos to our computers to share with the class. Optional supplies: If you have a phone camera or an ipad, these can be used to add some versatility to the cameras. They are by no means mandatory, but they are a great and affordable way to have a mini upgrade. https://amzn.to/3iGsuMX
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Each student will be asked to turn in photos and I will require that all students keep from presenting photos with violent or explicit content. Please make sure that your learner's computer permissions allow for screen sharing. If you are not comfortable with your learner sharing screen to share their photos, they are welcome to send their photos to me (through Outschool) and I will share my screen for them. Please note: Outschool requires verification of each learner. This means that unless Outschool has verified your learner, I will require learners to turn on their live cameras for a beginning of class check in. If cameras are not working or learners are not comfortable with this, please contact Outschool help for verification before class begins. I will not offer transfers or refunds in the event that this policy is not followed. This is for the safety and security of learners on the platform.
