Hi friends! Would you like to learn about letters and sounds while diving into the deep blue ocean and meeting many animal friends along the way? Well, jump in, and let's go! We will begin our class with a brief circle time to sing and share something with the class. Then, we will move on to learning letters and sounds. Each week we will focus on 2-3 letters and their sounds. We will meet all kinds of sea animals throughout our class who will guide us to learn letters and sounds and...
Students will identify and produce individual sounds. This is very beneficial to early reading skills. We will gradually add sounds together to blend and learn how words are made. Lastly, we will blend 2-3 sounds together to form real words and practice reading them at the end of each lesson in a story. Our ultimate goal by the end of the five weeks, is to be able to blend sounds into words with minimal assistance.
My background is in Montessori teaching. I follow the child and guide them until they are ready to be independent. I also have a background in Speech and Language Pathology and have worked with a variety of reading levels to improve reading and comprehension skills in ages 3-18.
