In this one time class, students will review the letters and their sounds. During class, we will review how to recognize the letters and learn the sounds the letters make. Recognition For letter recognition, students will look at colorful alphabet cards in order to practice identifying what the letters look like. Phonics/Letter Sounds Students will be taught the sounds the letter makes. In addition, students will be taught a hand motion that corresponds with the sound. The helps with retention of the letter sound. For the vowels, students will be taught the vowel sounds using Vowel People puppets. These stick puppets have the letter incorporated into the picture and a little story corresponds with the picture to further aid in retention of the letter sound. Since this is a one-on-one tutoring class, parents or caregivers are encouraged to let the teacher know what letter/phonics skills their child may need additional help with. The teacher will accommodate those requests and focus on those needed skills in class.
