40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class students will be taught how to make a fun treasure map and learn the phonics beginning blends: "sm, cr, tr, fr, br, dr, qu, fl." Students will be guided to learn the sounds of the different blends and then will be shown how to draw specific nouns that have the beginning blends on their treasure maps. We will complete our treasure maps by learning how to make our maps look more antique and authentic. After maps are completed, we will go on an adventure together practicing the different blends using different movements to review the sounds. An example of a movement would be "walking through a forest of trees" while practicing the sound "tr." By the end of class, students will have learned many beginning blend sounds, have created a fun treasure map, and hopefully sparked their imagination for future adventures after class!
