Class Experience

This class is intended to review the word families and blending skills they learned in Beginner Phonics Part 1 & 2. These skills are needed to build a solid foundation in preparation for reading. The learning goal is for students to strengthen their ability ti utilize letter sounds to blend and make words as well as their ability to recognize and understand different word families.
I am certified to teach children for grades K-12. I have been working in education for many years and have seen students gain success with interactive programs. Also, for over a year I have been working as an online ESL teacher, teaching children ages 4 and older how to speak English. It is my knowledge, skill set, and love of learning that would make me a great educator for your child.
Review sheets will be provided at the end of class. This work is not due at the next class, however, it is used as a reinforcement of the skills that we have learned.
All materials that will be used will be sent to the classroom to be printed out. Phonics videos and games will be watched online.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
While ages 4-7 are encouraged to join, please note, if your student is already reading this course will be too easy for them. If they do not know letter sounds or letter identification, this class will be too difficult. Ages 4-5 should be ready to be introduced to blending sounds together, meaning they know all of the letters and sounds and ages 6-7 should be those who have been introduced to blending but are struggling and need additional support. Also, this is a review and reinforcement of skills learned in the two previous courses. If your child struggles, you may want to have them enroll in part 1 and part 2 first if you have not already done so.

Please note this class is set up for 2 days a week for 7 weeks, however it can be offered more frequently during the week for fewer weeks.
