Class Experience
This class is intended to teach learners how to reinforce uppercase and lower case letters while introducing them to the letter sounds. These skills are needed to build a solid foundation in preparation for reading. Letters and letter sounds will be taught through songs, videos, games and activities. Every class will follow a similar outline. We will begin with a song. We will review the letter/sound pictures. Sometimes, we will watch videos that relate to the letters of that class....
This class is taught in English.
I am certified to teach children for grades K-12. I have been working in education for many years and have seen students gain success with interactive programs. Also, for over a year I have been working as an online ESL teacher, teaching children ages 4 and older how to speak English. It is my knowledge, skill set, and love of learning that would make me a great educator for your child.
All materials that will be used will be sent to the classroom to be printed out. Phonics videos and games will be watched online.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students should have some knowledge of the alphabet. Also, since these are learners that are younger, parental support may be needed in the classroom. Students will need to annotate on the screen. (If they can't, they may have to trace their lines on the sheets that are provided). While ages 4-7 are encouraged to join, please note, if your students knows his/her letters and letter sounds, then this course may be too easy for them. Ages 4-5 should be ready to be introduced and ages 6-7 should be those who have been introduced but are struggling and need additional support. Please note this class will run 2 days a week for 6 weeks during the school year, however during the summer it can run as a 4 week daily boot camp.
