Phonics Practice: From Letters to Words on Going
What's included
2 live meetings
1 in-class hours per weekClass Experience
In this class, students are going to be participating by forming their own words using letters (magnetic, scrabble tiles, blocks, paper letters that they can make or post it notes). The students will be interacting me with and sharing their word formations. Our class will move through making 2 letter words, 3 letter words, 4 letter words and more. I will support the students when necessary and adapt for different student abilities. Once we have all our words we will also look at some highlights of our words like same starting sounds and word families. I will also highlight how they can use their new knowledge to form other words for when they are writing and to recognize more words when they are reading.
Learning Goals
Students are going to learn letter sounds and letter relationships through an active and hands on approach. They will learn that new words can be formed by changing one letter, moving the letters around or by adding letters. They will also learn what word families are and how their new knowledge can help them to form other words.
