Phonics Practice: Beginning Letter Sounds
Learners will practice identifying the first letter of words for all 26 letters. Phonics involves matching the sounds of spoken English with individual letters.

Although my classes are shorter in length, I try to eliminate "fluff" and move into learning very quickly. I keep classes small to allow multiple chances for all learners to respond. I do put in age appropriate "brain breaks" that take 5-15 seconds to keep learners attention and refresh the brains as we move into the next phase of the class. Learners should know most of their letter sounds before joining this class. We will spend a little time reviewing letter sounds at the beginning of class. Learners will identify the first letter of words and objects. This will be done by listening to the word, looking at a picture, and then matching it to a choice of letters presented on the slide.

My teaching style is fast pace, sensitive, and silly. I want kids to feel confident and smarter when they finish a class. I want parents to know their money was well spent.
I expect participation from my learners. All my classes require individual and group participation. If your child prefers not to be called on, please contact me before class. I also make accommodations such as signs, hand gestures, or giving choices for learners on the timid side.
I am passionate about teaching emotional intelligence, as well as social and communication skills. I also love teaching mindfulness and different ways we can help manage our emotions. As a homeschool mother to preschool age through 1st grade, I favor teaching early learning and elementary skills.
I am skilled at breaking down concepts into smaller pieces to help learners digest and absorb the information.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master's degree in Special Education. I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and work with children with autism and other developmental disorders. (No worries- I won't be analyzing your kiddos!). I have 14 years of professional experience with individuals with autism and feel a special connection to people with unique abilities.
