This is a comprehensive phonics and reading program designed for educators and students to enhance literacy skills over the course of 25 days. This structured course follows the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach, a multi-sensory, explicit, and systematic method of teaching reading. Each day features meticulously planned lessons that focus on various aspects of phonemic awareness, decoding, and language structure. Students are expected to spend 20-30 minutes daily on these lessons. I will be available daily to provide guidance and assistance as needed. Features: -Vowel Teams & R-Controlled Vowels: Lessons include focused instruction on vowel teams (e.g., ai, ea, oi) and r-controlled vowels (e.g., ar, er, ir), essential for mastering complex vowel sounds. -Segmenting and Blending Sounds: Activities designed to help students practice segmenting (breaking down) and blending (combining) sounds, critical for developing phonemic awareness. -Alphabetic Principle: Instruction on the alphabetic principle, helping students understand the relationship between letters and sounds. -Sentence Writing: Lessons incorporate writing sentences, allowing students to apply their phonics skills in context and improve their writing fluency. -Word Ladders: Engaging word ladder exercises where students change one word into another, one letter at a time, to develop decoding and encoding skills. -Word Sorts: Activities that involve sorting words into categories based on specific phonetic patterns or features, enhancing pattern recognition and categorization skills. -Morphology - Affixes: Instruction on morphology, including prefixes, suffixes, and root words, to expand vocabulary and understanding of word structure. -Orthographic Mapping: Techniques to help students map sounds to their corresponding letters or letter patterns, improving spelling and reading fluency.
