Phonics Intervention - Sentences, Compound Words, and Ending Sounds (COURSE 3)
In this 8 week course, Students will review digraphs and trigraphs and students will learn to capitalize and punctuate sentences. Students will learn compound words, ending sounds -s and -es, and double ending sounds such as -ff, -ss, etc.

Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to read and write sentences with a capital letter and punctuation marks. Students will be able to recognize, read and write compound words. Students will learn to read with fluency, speed, and accuracy.
No sensitive material will be taught or explained in this course.
This class will have homework! Homework will be provided to solidify learning. Students retain more when they engage in understanding and applying the objectives outside of class. Homework may include: a worksheet** sight word drill and practice** dictation (child writes words and/or sentences that someone else says) word building or letter work ESSENTIAL NIGHTLY HOMEWORK: Easy Reader Books** (This class is designed to get learners reading so reading nightly will be required.) **Student will be provided a PDF copy of sight word cut-outs, worksheets, and Easy Readers.
In addition to provided PDFs each week, students will also need: One notebook just for this course One folder for this course Optional but Beneficial: magnetic letters or letter blocks (more than one of each for word building) printer to print homework and other pdf resources.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Most assessment will be informal observations from the teacher. At the end of each week, parents will receive a written report in the student's feedback of the their cumulative strengths and weakness including the necessary strategies to improve mastery of objectives. During class, students will have an opportunity to read with peers and teacher. This will primarily determine the progress of students.
3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
In class, we may watch instructional content on youtube, such as sing-alongs, chants, and storybooks. All content will be reviewed prior to class and will only be controlled by the teacher.
