US Grade Kindergarten - 3
💫This is a one-time class that can be taken multiple times. Come once, or come often! Each session will focus on a specific letter sound or phonics blend (alphabet, blends, digraphs, CVC words, CVCe words), helping learners build essential reading and writing skills while expressing themselves artistically. This is a live group class where learners will be guided through step-by-step drawing and writing tutorials. These sessions will focus on creating simple yet delightful illustrations that children can easily follow along with. We will complete at least 2 drawings per session. This small group class values constructive feedback and encouragement as a community. Children can share their creations with peers and receive positive feedback from both fellow members and myself, promoting self-confidence and growth. 📌Materials Needed: Writing materials (paper, crayons, markers, etc.) Learning Goals; ✔️Phonics Focus: Learn new letter sounds or blends through engaging activities. ✔️ Writing Practice: Practice writing words or sentences related to letter sounds. ✔️ Directed Drawing: Follow step-by-step instructions to create a drawing inspired by the phonics lesson. ✔️ Enhance Language and Literacy Skills: Integrate writing activities with drawing exercises to promote language and literacy development. ✔️Storytelling: Share and discuss your art and writing to boost confidence and communication skills. ✔️Fine Motor Skills: Develop fine motor skills during directed drawing and writing activities. 🤩Whether your child is learning letter sounds, blending sounds, or writing simple sentences, they’ll have a blast exploring literacy and creativity in a supportive environment.

I have been teaching for more than 25 years with the Toronto District School Board (🍁Canada). My Ontario College of Teachers Certificate number is #286618. I attended Dalhousie University for my Bachelor of Music in Performance, and then Brock University for my Bachelor of Education. I studied classical piano from the age of 5 with the Royal Conservatory of Music. While in University, I performed as a Mezzo-Soprano in the Dalhousie Chorale.
Throughout my teaching career, I have taught K-12 Music, Kindergarten, Grade 1 and 2, Health and Physical Education. I have conducted choirs and musical ensembles for seasonal public performances throughout all of these years of teaching. I have always continued to advance my skills by taking additional qualifications courses and am very proud to be a Reading Specialist.
In 2020, I created K5 Hidden Peak Education. K5HPE proudly creates virtual resources to support the development of literacy, math, arts, health and physical education.
