Description
Class Experience
This is a FLEX course so there will be no live meetings. However, this class will still be interactive through use of videos, activities in the classroom tab and posts. In this course, I will be teaching letters, letter sounds, and initial sounds of words. This course will be for 14 weeks. Each week, I will teach 2 letters and their sounds. We will also practice identifying the beginning sounds of words that match the letters we have or are learning. Through the classroom tab, students will...
Students will identify letters and letter sounds. Students will practice forming the letters through using supplies (cut-and-paste, playdoh, writing). Students will identify initial sounds in words.
I have years of experience teaching literacy skills in the elementary school. I am currently working on my Master's in Reading and have taken many professional development courses to continue my craft in providing effective instruction that helps students achieve goals and become successful learners. More than anything, I am just a person who cares and wants children to feel successful and accomplished.
Students will be expected to complete and post handouts weekly. Also, students will participate in a short fun activity during the week and participate through the classroom tab.
Handouts will need to be printed. Supplies such as scissors, glue, pencil, crayons, playdoh, etc. will be needed at times during the course. Other supplies needs for an activity will be posted in the classroom tab.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessment will be based on completion of handout and participation in activities in the classroom tab.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
