In this lesson we will have introductions first. We will be covering the letter sounds of the English alphabet through chanting and songs.I will also model to children how to stretch sounds in CVC words. I am a very patient, upbeat and positive teacher. I want children to look forward to my lessons and learn everything they can. I like for my classes to be student centered. I like to hear the voices of the students. No prior experience or knowledge is needed by learners.
The learner will begin to understand that each English alphabet letter makes a certain sound.
Hello! I am Mrs. Sharon. I have a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have had Reading Recovery Training, I have the Read to Succeed Literacy endorsement and Literacy teacher endorsement on my South Carolina teaching certificate. The coursework from Reading Recovery training and Read to Succeed gives me a Master’s plus 30. I am also a National Board Certified teacher in Early Childhood Education. I have tught 5k-2nd grade for 15 years in the public school setting. I love teaching children how to read.
If learners could review the recording of the lesson it would support their progress and success with learning letter sounds as well as with future lessons.
A small dry erase board and marker or a notebook and pencil may be required for your child to be successful. This is not a requirement to be a part of the class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The learner's progress will be informally assessed by teacher observation.
35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
None of the content in this class requires parental guidance.
