PRIVATE BOOKINGS Private Instruction from Phonics for Reading, Writing, and Spelling taught by the author. CLASS OVERVIEW This private class features the Phonics for Reading, Writing, and Spelling Curriculum, and is taught by the curriculum author. The class will be "jam-packed" with phonics instruction and tailored to the understanding of your child. The student will practice and solidify new sounds through reading and interactive activities. Instruction will be fun, colorful, and focused on your child. Students will work through phonogram flashcards. They will work on their "sounding-out" skills, and be led through spelling activities with a heavy focus on phonics. They will practice guided reading activities, as well as student-led reading activities. Every phonogram will have a story written specifically for that sound. Phonograms will be solidified for the student in order to give them the tools they need for independent reading. An after-class worksheet will be provided at the end of each class. My teaching style is welcoming, kind, and patient, so students always feel right at home. Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Cherie Steele. I am a graduate of Penn State University, and I am trained in the teaching of Intensive Phonics. I hold both TESOL and TEFL certifications. In addition, I have a strong background in music, having completed 3 years of study in music and vocal performance at JDF Records in Nashville, TN. I have twenty years of experience as a curriculum author and teacher. I am also the mother of five fabulous kids, all of whom I have completely homeschooled.
For the past twenty years, one of my great loves has been teaching language arts. Reading, writing, grammar, literature, and poetry are my passions. From ensuring that young students have a firm foundation in phonics to training older students to become great writers, it is my goal to establish a love of language arts in children.
I invite you to look over the parent reviews regarding the efficacy of the Phonics for Reading, Writing, and Spelling Curriculum and the teaching methods used in my classroom.
Your student will feel right at home in my classroom. I am a patient teacher, and I love to bring out smiles and a feeling of accomplishment. My goal is simple...lay solid foundations and build upon them with quality material.
I am excited to meet your student.
See you in class! :)
Ms. Cherie
