This class is geared towards students that have unique learning needs which may include, but is not limited to, learning disabilities like dyslexia, cognitive impairment, ADD/ADHD, and more.

Learning phonics is essential to understanding letters and the sounds they make. Each week we will introduce a new digraph (th, ch, sh), diphthong (oi, oy, ow) or other two letter combinations (bl, nk, ea and more.) This class will improve your students reading accuracy and fluency.

This is a great class for students at or below grade level who may need supplemental reading material, intervention or want to strengthen their reading skills with phonics. Students with a wide range of abilities, who can read basic CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant words like cat, cop, and leg) words and are ready to move on to more complex sounds will be successful in this class.

Students will be taught each word in a highly structured and fun learning environment. We’ll review each high frequency word in isolation, identify the sounds, categorizing, blending, segmentation and more. Your student will respond as a group and individually.

Having fun is part of the learning process. Your student will stay engaged by learning in creative ways, such as silly voices and games.

Before you know it, your young reader will start to feel more confident in reading and recognizing many different letter sound combinations. Imagine all the books you can explore together with your accomplished reader!
