US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In this multi-day course, each day this class will review the different letter sound blends that include the letter “r” like ar, er, ir, or, and ur. Students will be taught using a very structured approach to learn and review the sounds in isolation, identify the sounds, categorizing, blending, segmentation and more. Students will respond as a group and individually. Day 1: /ar/ Day 2: /or Day 3: /er/ Day 4: /ir/ Day 5: /ur/ Each class we will spend a couple minutes reviewing single letter sounds that will be used during the class. Then we will spend a few minutes using different teaching strategies to read common words with the letter combination for that class. *Students should be able to read all letter sounds and simple CVC words before joining this class. Students will need a whiteboard, a dry erase marker (a pencil and paper will suffice) and a slinky (a rubber band will do).

I have my bachelors degree in special education plus additional course work for art and TESOL (teaching English as a second language). I have been working with children for more than 20 years including as a certified teacher and a homeschool mom. I have worked with a wide variety of age groups and and taught a variety of subjects including severe-profound special education preschool, honors high school and everything in between. But my specialties are drawing, brick building classes, elementary literacy, special education and baking. I even own small bakery!
