Description

Class Experience

In this class we will take a fun approach to learning. We will play some games, have fun and learn! This class will cover the long sounds /ā/, /ē/, /ī/, /ō/ and /ū/ using the bossy e rule. Students will be taught using a highly structured approach to learn phoneme isolation, identity, categorization, blending, segmentation and more. Students will respond as a group and individually to determine how they are doing to understand the concept and read words with a bossy e.

Day 1: Long /a/ sound...

Students will be able to recognize the  long sounds /ā/, /ē/, /ī/, /ō/ and /ū/ in isolation and within a word, blend words and segment words with the long vowel sounds.

Students will need a slinky (if a slinky is not available, a hair tie or rubber band will also work) and a whiteboard and marker (or paper and pencil).

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

2 hours 5 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
