Each day this class will learn the different diphthongs like oi, oy, ou and ow. Students will be taught using a very structured approach to learn and review the sounds in isolation, identify the sounds, categorizing, blending, segmentation and more. Students will respond as a group and individually. Each class we will spend a couple minutes reviewing single letter sounds that will be used during the class. Then we will spend a few minutes using different teaching strategies to read common words with the letter combination for that class. Day 1: /oi/ Day 2: /oy/ Day 3: /ou/ Day 4: /ow/ ⭐ Students should be able to read at an early first grade level or higher for this class. For help with mastering these skills, please see some of my other class listings. ⭐ Learners will need a whiteboard, a dry erase marker (a pencil and paper will suffice).

I have my bachelors degree in special education plus additional course work for art and TESOL (teaching English as a second language). I have been working with children for more than 20 years including as a certified teacher and a homeschool mom. I have worked with a wide variety of age groups and and taught a variety of subjects including severe-profound special education preschool, honors high school and everything in between. But my specialties are drawing, brick building classes, elementary literacy, special education and baking. I even own small bakery!
