Phonics FLEX 1: CVC, Blends, and Digraphs
In this four week flex class, we will practice identifying, sounding out, spelling and writing with consonant-vowel-consonant words, beginning blends, and digraphs (sh,ch and th). **This class is ideal for students who have starting reading and writing some CVC words and who would like to work on the class material most days. Check out my other Phonics FLEX classes for material presented more slowly.

Class Experience
This class is ideal for students who know their letter sounds and have experience with cvc words. I think phonics is ideal in the flex class version because students can practice over and over again on their own schedule. This class is fast paced and present many new concepts in a week. Check back on my page for more Phonics FLEX classes that present materials at a slower pace if you have less time to devote each week and would like your child to have more time with the content.
Each week I will post...
-video of drill for students to practice to learn vowel sounds, blends or digraphs
-prompting videos that will ask questions for the students and allow them to work along with me. This also allows them to check their own work without parental supervision
-interactive games to check understanding and encourage automaticity (available most weeks)
-outside resources student's can use to continue their learning
-"challenge questions" without posted answer
-creating sentences based on my prompts
-practice worksheet
Each week you can interact by...
-creating your own sheet to help your child practice the drills
- video of your child practicing the drills
-create your own prompting video for your child and others to utilize
-complete the interactive games (used most weeks)
-answer the "challenge questions"
-posting picture of your student's created sentence and drawing
-complete and post the practice worksheet
Week One: CVC words
Week Two: Blends ("l", "r", and "s" blends)
Week Three: Digraphs
Week Four: Bringing everything together! We will practice a combination of all the skills we have learned and write sentences.Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify both sounds each vowel make
Students will correctly write cvc (consonant-vowel-consonant) words.
Students will identify the beginning blends in words.
Students will practice spelling words with beginning blends.
Students will identify sh,ch, and th in words.
Students will be able to write words and sentences with sh, ch and th.
Students will create a sentence that includes a capital letter, spaces and punctuation.

Students should have paper or a whiteboard during prompting videos Students will utilize paper to write and illustrate sentences There are some materials in this class you may want to print, but they are optional

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
