Class Experience

During this lesson, I will introduce learners to the concept of a closed syllable. Learners encounter these words in controlled readers (like BOB books and other decidable texts). In this class learners will learn the components of a closed syllable, how to identify one, and how to read one. The class will begin with a virtual greetings and phonics warm up to review key sounds. Learners will review the concepts of vowels, consonants, and syllables. Students will be able to identify vowels within a word. 
Students will be able to identify final consonants. 
Students will be able to identify closed syllables. 
Students will be able to sound out closed syllable words.

Students only need a clear workspace to participate in this class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
