Phonics & Reading Tutoring for Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, & Second Graders

Hello! My name is Teacher Courtney. Welcome to my class! This private tutoring course is designed for students to improve their phonics and reading skills. We will focus on reading stories, practicing phonics skills, answering questions, completing activities, and having discussions as well. See phonics/reading skills and sample class outlines below.

Suggested Reading Skills: reading comprehension, fluency, pronunciation, word recognition, themes/topics, main ideas, inferences, basic recall, point of view, context clues, sequencing, story elements, predictions, summarizing, cause/effect, compare/contrast, and so much more.

Suggested Phonics Skills: CVC/CVCe words, word families, spelling, segmenting/blending, letters and sounds, short/long vowels, r-controlled vowels, consonant blends, digraphs, diphthongs, vowel teams, and so much more.

Sample Class Outline for Phonics & Reading
Step 1: Complete a phonics lesson [10 min]
Step 2: Read and review a short story [15 min]
Step 3: Play phonics games or do some phonics-based activities [5 min]

This tutoring course is offered once/week. Students will learn new lessons in each class that are tailored to meet their needs based on their goals and skill level. This allows me to teach at your child's pace while providing them with the attention and support that they need to succeed. I will be using PowerPoint slides, interactive books, games, online activities, and other resources to teach this course. Parents must enroll their child at least 24 hours before class start time.

After initial enrollment, I will send a message to the parent inquiring information on what goals are needed to be met for their child. Then I will design a personalized lesson catered to meet the child's needs. If I am unable to reach the parent, then I will teach a lesson based on the child's age and assess the child during the lesson. Per parents' request, I will provide written feedback after the lesson. Parents may also request homework for independent practice outside of class. 

Parents, if you need to cancel class within 24 hours of start time or if your child misses class, please send me a message. I am more than happy to reschedule class per request. I will try my best to accommodate your child's schedule.
