US Grade 2 - 5
In this writing class, I will teach how to write an opinion paragraph about the student's favorite pet or animal while snacking on yummy OREO cookies for inspiration! If the student does not have a pet, he/she can write about their favorite animal. Students are encouraged to bring their pet to class or share a photo of him or her. Students will use an OREO graphic organizer to write their thoughts and organize their ideas about their best furry (or non furry) friend. Students will then...
The students will learn how to organize their thoughts to write an opinion essay about their favorite pet. Students will learn how to state their opinion, give multiple reasons for their opinion, and add evidence/examples to support the reasons. Students will also learn and review the commands of written English, including capital letters, punctuation, grammar, and spelling to write effectively. Lastly, students will learn how to write a 5-7 sentence opinion paragraph using details from the graphic organizer.
Homework Offered
Students are encouraged to illustrate their pet after the writing is completed.Assessments Offered
