With permission of HarperCollins publishers, I will be reading various books from the fun "Pete the Cat" series and the class will complete art activities that correspond to the book. The outline of the first five weeks of this ongoing course is listed below: 1. Week of January 16th: "Pete the Cat: Out of this World" *Create your own planet (use paper & art supplies or playdoh!) 2. Week of January 23rd: "Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes" *Draw & decorate your favorite cupcake...
Students will improve their reading comprehension skills. Students will improve their eye-hand coordination skills. Students will improve their critical thinking skills.
Young learners are very impressionable! I love to keep them engaged and having fun so that they will associate learning with excitement. Using everyday tactics to explain and teach allows the child to make a personal connection with what is being learned so that they retain that learned information as long as possible. As a preschool teacher, I know that story time and art are two things my students look forward to each day & I want to make the most of this fun time. I look for ways to engage in learning in all things, and story time & art are two ways to practice and learn reading comprehension skills and coordination skills.
1. Paper to draw on (whatever you have available at home) 2. Art supplies (pencil, crayons, markers, coloring pencils, etc.) 3. (OPTIONAL) stickers 4. (OPTIONAL) water color paint
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please help your child by having art supplies ready for class when they log-in. If your child has never taken an Outschool or online course, please remain within earshot of your child in case of technical difficulties. Please adhere to Outschool guidelines regarding individual student participation. Only one student is allowed to participate per student registration for security purposes.
