Pet Talent Show: Bring Your Pet to Class, Show Their Animal Talents, and Write!
In this one time class students will bring their pet to class with the intention of showing off their pets special talents to the class. Then, students will write about their pet working in a traveling circus and performing their talents.

This is the greatest show! (Pet show that is). If your pet has a special hidden talent nobody knows about, or everyone knows about this class is for you! Bring your pet to class and show off your furry friend. Talents can include simple tasks like extreme sleeping, extreme walking, barking, cat naps, extreme licking, or tail wagging. Talents can also include strenuous tasks like house watching, cat chasing, mail man guarding, or digging. However, there are few species out there that have talents that require more brain work like tricks. These can include shaking, sitting, playing dead, fetching, or even in special cases tricks that require a pet college degree. Whatever talent your pet has will work for this class. What topics will I cover? After the pet show you will learn to write a short story about your pet working in a traveling circus and performing their talent. Students will learn to write a beginning, middle, and end of a story while including details to keep the story interesting.
Learning Goals
Students will get to show off their furry (or scaled) friend's talents, and then learn to improve their writing skills while having fun!

Students will need a pet with a talent (big or small), materials needed for the talent performance, pencil and paper.

I LOVE teaching! I graduated from West Texas A&M University with my bachelor's degree in elementary education. I have also acquired a masters degree in reading instruction, and am passionate about teaching kids to read. When I graduated college I taught first grade for two years in North Carolina. I have also had the opportunity to teach English online with VIPKID for a couple years. This is an ESL company based in China. This has given me experience with making learning FUN in the online environment. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve.
